      Membership file contains membership application, correspondence about resignation and retirement, notification of death, and obituaries. The exhibits sent with the application were returned to him at the time. Fellows were chosen by a jury for the first time in 1923, and there were no written nomination forms. Noland was a founding member of the AIA Virginia Chapter in 1914, serving as its first secretary and later as chapter president prior to World War I.
