The American Institute of Architects Archives
      Membership file contains only notification of death. There are few written records concerning 19th-century members. In the published membership lists, his address is in Chicago during the first period of his membership, 1874-1876. When he joined the Western Association of Architects in 1885, he was in Kansas City. Starting in the 1924 member directory, he is listed as "retired" but still in Kansas City. In the 1927 member directory, his address is in Los Angeles.
      A history of the Kansas City chapter written by Ben Lubschez in 1913 for publication in the AIA Journal shows that Hamilton was active in the early years of the chapter.
