Entry (under the name Lewis Charles Giele) in Henry F. Withey, A.I.A., and Elsie Rathburn Withey, Biographical Dictionary of American Architects (Deceased) (Los Angeles: New Age Publishing Company, 1956. Facsimile edition, Hennessey & Ingalls, Inc., 1970). Withey's Biographical Dictionary is notorious for errors in names and dates. Both Withey's source, the 1932 obituary in American Art Annual, and New York directory listings as shown in Architects in Practice, New York City, 1900-1940 (COPAR, 1989) give the name of this architect as Louis H. Giele.
